Find fresh Reddit threads before the crowd

Reddit rewards the first good comment on a post, not the fiftieth one. By the time a thread has hundreds of comments, most readers never scroll far enough to see a new reply.

How does it work?

1. Pick the subreddits you want KarmaGuy to check, or load a saved preset.
2. Set a freshness window: 30, 60, 120, 180, or 240 minutes. KarmaGuy only pulls posts newer than that.
3. Add optional keywords, separated by commas. KarmaGuy only keeps posts that match at least one of them.
4. KarmaGuy checks your chosen subreddits and builds a list of the posts that pass both filters, newest first.
5. You look through the list and tick the posts worth a reply. Everything else, you skip.

Why does it matter?

A comment posted in the first hour sits near the top of a thread. Almost everyone who opens it reads it. That same comment posted twelve hours later lands on page two, buried under fifty replies. Few people scroll that far.

A tight freshness window, like 30 or 60 minutes, catches posts almost as soon as they go up. A wider window, like 180 or 240 minutes, still narrows the flood down to what is recent. It works well for smaller subreddits with fewer new posts. Keywords narrow the list further, so you see posts about your topic instead of everything in a subreddit.

What are the limits?

The freshness window only checks a post’s timestamp against your clock, not how many comments it already has. A quiet subreddit can post something 20 minutes old with zero comments, while a busy one can already have ten.

KarmaGuy only finds fresh posts when you run a search. It does not watch subreddits in the background. A tight window is only as useful as how often you check it. Running a search every hour on a 60 minute window catches far more than running it once a day.

Keywords match on the post title and body text KarmaGuy can read. A post that fits your topic but uses none of your chosen words will not show up. Keep your keyword list short, and try a few different words if a search comes back empty.

A short window on a small subreddit can also return no results at all. If that happens, widen the window or add another subreddit to the search.
